Welcome to Year 1

Curriculum

This term our Geography topic is “What is it like here? and our Science topic is "Seasonal Change."

To find out more about what the children are learning each each term, please click on the links below to find details of the full Year 1 curriculum. The homework the children receive will be linked to waht they are learning in class.

P.E.

Our P.E. days are:

Autumn Term 1 is Wednesday

Autumn Term 2 is Monday

Spring Term 1 is Wednesday

Spring Term 2 is Wednesday

Summer Term 1 is Wednesday

Summer Term 2 is Wednesday

On a PE day, your child/children will need to come into school dressed in an appropriate P.E. kit.

PE kit includes:

• White t-shirt

• Plain black shorts

• Black joggers/leggings

• Burgundy hoodie – with or without zip (with logo)

• Trainers 

• Black pumps

Please be advised, no football kits are allowed.

 If you have any barrier to purchasing a suitable PE kit, please contact the Pastoral Team who will discuss how this can be resolved.

Children must not wear jewellery, including earrings, when participating in PE- for their own safety and the safety of others.

P.E. Topics : During the year, we will look at Basic Movements, Dance, Games and Athletics.

Homework

A reading book, homework and spellings will be sent home on a Friday and expected to be returned by Wednesday. This will be a mixture of Maths, English and other subjects. Spelling tests are held on a Friday. Children will be provided with a plastic school bag that should be returned every Wednesday.
